Measuring boundaries and borders: A taxonomy of work-nonwork boundary management scales

Boundary management refers to the ways that individuals create, maintain, and manage demarcations between work personal life. Research regarding boundary provides multi-disciplinary value across organizational sciences, including work-family work-nonwork research, but is hindered by terminological confusion construct proliferation. We present a systematic review of scales (N = 91 scales), we organize into measurement taxonomy aligns scale items with conceptual definitions constructs. found evidence misalignment conceptualizations operationalizations identified scales, also find little for convergent discriminant validity among scales. Findings suggest need strengthen relevant which can be guided proposed taxonomy.
